The FJR1300 is a package that fits into many worlds. In USA the Cops use a Police Special version by Yamaha, as it's a fast & capable sports bike & a shaft drive tourer with paniers & top box that is made for carrying extra heavy payloads. The motor is very strong & pulls very much like a Hayabusa, & while it is shaft driven, it handles abusive behaviour ok, pulling wheelies fully bagged or smoking the rear tyre when dropping the clutch with plenty of revs. There's no noticeable backlash in the drivetrain & seems well up for the abuse. While it also comes with other touring options like heated grips, power adjustable windscreen, extra fairing vents to keep you warm, you really notice all the extra wieght at slower speeds & parking, but handles great when on open roads. Getting into the tight twisttie stuff, & you'll be scaping the extra low pipes mounted under the paniers.
If you still got speed in the blood, & your partner wants to go touring long distance, this bike is good at everything.
